Banglarbhumi GRN Search: Payment Status & Receipt Help

To use Banglarbhumi GRN Search, open the official Banglarbhumi portal, sign in if prompted, and select GRN Search under Citizen Services. Choose the relevant service or request type if shown, enter your GRN and the other details requested, then submit the search. Use the returned information to follow up the matching payment or service request.

Illustration for this guide; not an official portal screenshot or a payment-status result.

Start on the official Banglarbhumi portal. Banglarbhumi.info provides independent guidance and does not collect government payments. For other land-record tasks, see our Banglarbhumi land records guide.

What is GRN Search used for?

A GRN is a government payment reference. Keep it with the acknowledgment for the transaction it belongs to. GRN Search helps you return to the relevant payment or request information; it is not a search for land ownership, a Khatian number or a plot number.

Depending on the service and the available result, the portal may also provide a document collection or download option. Follow the instructions for that particular request rather than assuming every GRN produces the same receipt or document.

GRN number and application number: what is the difference?

ReferenceWhat it identifiesWhere to look
GRNThe relevant government payment transactionPayment acknowledgment, challan or transaction record where issued
Application or request numberThe service application or document requestSubmitted application acknowledgment or saved request details
Bank transaction referenceThe payment entry recorded by the bank or payment providerBank statement, payment confirmation or transaction history

Keep these references separately. A bank transaction reference should not be entered as a GRN unless the official screen explicitly asks for that reference. Before searching, match the reference to the correct service and application.

Details to keep ready

  • GRN from your payment record, if issued.
  • Application or request number linked to the payment.
  • Service or request type, if the search asks you to select it.
  • Payment date, amount and bank transaction reference for comparison or a support enquiry.
  • Saved acknowledgment, receipt or challan.

The live form determines which fields are required. Do not assume that bank name, head of account or payment date must be entered in every GRN Search merely because an older form displayed those fields.

How to search a GRN on Banglarbhumi

  1. Open the official portal from the link above. Sign in if the service requires it.
  2. Open Citizen Services and select GRN Search.
  3. Select the service, request category or search type if the screen provides a choice.
  4. Enter the GRN and any application or other reference fields shown for that search. Check each number against the saved acknowledgment.
  5. Complete the CAPTCHA or other verification if displayed, then use the search or submit button.
  6. Compare the returned reference, service and available payment details with your records.
  7. If a receipt or document option is provided for that request, follow the displayed instructions and save the resulting file.

If an old bookmarked page fails or your session has expired, return through the official homepage and reopen GRN Search. Menu labels and fields can change; use the options currently displayed for your service.

Application GRN Search and Request GRN Search

Older guides may use the labels “Application GRN Search” and “Request GRN Search.” Follow the category and fields shown on the current portal for the application or document request you actually submitted. These labels should not be treated as instructions to create a new GRN simply to buy or sell land.

For a record-copy request, the ROR Request guide explains the related starting process. Keep that request acknowledgment together with its payment reference.

Money deducted but no receipt: what should you do?

  1. Save the bank transaction reference, payment date, amount and any GRN or application number already issued.
  2. Check the official payment or GRN result for the same application. For Khajna, use the relevant land-revenue payment-status option where available.
  3. If the payment is confirmed but the receipt is missing, look for the official receipt or reprint option for that service.
  4. If the result is pending, failed or unclear while your bank shows a debit, follow the official payment instructions and raise an enquiry through the appropriate department or payment-provider support channel.
  5. Check the existing transaction before attempting another payment. If you contact support, provide the references and error message through the official channel; do not post passwords or OTPs in public comments.

A bank debit alone does not establish that the application has been approved or the payment has been recorded against the intended request. This guide does not promise a fixed reconciliation or refund time; the responsible payment service determines the next action.

Payment status, application approval and document readiness

What you want to knowWhat to check
Was the relevant payment recorded? The matching official payment or GRN result
Has my submitted application been decided? The relevant application or case-status service
Can I obtain my requested document? The request’s document delivery, signed-copy or available download instructions
Can I get another receipt or acknowledgment? The appropriate application/report reprint service

For a mutation case, use the Mutation Status guide. A payment result and a case decision answer different questions.

Receipt reprint and document download

If you need another acknowledgment or receipt, see our Application / Receipt Reprint guide. Choose the correct output type on the official portal and enter the references it requests.

For some document requests, a GRN result may offer the next document action. Availability depends on the request and processing stage. Do not assume a payment receipt itself is a certified land record, or that every successful transaction allows an immediate document download.

Common GRN Search problems

ProblemWhat to check next
No matching resultRecheck GRN, application number and selected service against the acknowledgment.
Reference rejectedConfirm you have not substituted a bank transaction reference or another application’s number.
CAPTCHA or session errorUse the current code or reopen the service from the official homepage.
Portal will not loadRetry later; a failed page load does not establish that the payment failed.
Payment shown but document missingCheck the request-specific delivery instructions and processing status.
No GRN savedReview the payment acknowledgment or official transaction history. If you still cannot identify it, use official support with the bank reference and payment details.

Frequently asked questions

Can I search land ownership using a GRN?

GRN Search follows a payment or related request. For basic land details, use Khatian and Plot Information with the correct location and land-record number.

Do I always need both a GRN and application number?

Enter the fields required by the current form for your service. Keep both references ready where issued, but do not invent a missing number.

Does successful payment mean my application is approved?

No. Check the separate case or application status for the decision. Payment confirmation alone does not establish approval.

Can I download a document through GRN Search?

Some request flows may provide document collection or download through GRN Search. Use the options available for your particular request; it is not guaranteed for every transaction.

Should I pay again if my bank was debited?

Check the existing transaction and official instructions first. If the result remains unclear, raise an enquiry with the saved references before deciding on another payment.

The NIC land revenue user manual hosted by Bangla Sahayata Kendra describes the revenue payment and receipt workflow. It is an older manual; follow the current official portal for menu labels, required fields and transaction instructions.
